Everything about the Islamic calendar
The Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar. Also known as the Hijri calendar or Muslim calendar, the timetabling schedule is determined by the orbital movement and position of the moon.
The calendar year consists of twelve months and days of 354 or 355. It is used to indicate events in many Muslims countries and clarifies the proper days in which to observe the annual fast (Ramadan), to attend Hajj (Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca), and to commemorate all other Islamic anniversaries, holidays and festivals.
The solar Hijri calendar, also known as the Shamsi Hijri calendar, is determined by the orbital movement and position of the sun. This is the official calendar of Iran and Afghanistan. This calendar begins on the vernal equinox and each of the twelve months of the year corresponds to a zodiac sign. Furthermore, the first 6 months have 31 days, the following 5 months have 30 days, and the last month has 29 days (30 in a leap year), with New year’s Day always falling on the March equinox.
