Everything about resurrection in The Bible
Nothing in Biblical canon signifies the magnitude of religious wonder much like the miracle of resurrection.
Throughout his ministry, Jesus of Nazareth consecrated his twelve Apostles with great abilities. One of which was the capacity to perform miracles through prayer.
Prophet Elijah: prays over the corpse of a young boy, the widow of Zarephath’s son, and resurrects him (1 Kings 17:17-24).
Prophet Elisha: prays over a young boy recently dead, the Shunammite woman’s son. The boy sneezes 7 times, warmth returns to his body, and he rises. (2 Kings 4:18-37)
The Apostle Peter: prays over the corpse of the Good-Samaritan Tabitha of Joppa. She opens her eyes and sits up (Acts 9:36-43)
The Apostle Paul: Witnessed a young man accidently fall from a 3rd floor window to his death. Paul rushes to him, embraces the lifeless man and prays. Eutychus rises. (Acts 20:7-12)
Jesus: the first of his resurrections. During a funeral procession in the town of Nain, touches the coffin and speaks to the dead man within. The man sits up and rises. (Luke 11-17)
Jesus: in the presence of the Apostles Peter, James, and John, and the victim’s parents, resurrects the 12-year-old daughter of Jairus, leader of a local synagogue. (Luke 8:52-56)
Jesus: Resurrects his third and most significant corpse, his good friend Lazarus of Bethany, four days after his death (John 11).
Jesus: At the moment of Jesus’s death, the earth tremored, rocks split, and several cemetery tombs broke open to reveal their contents. On the day of Jesus’s resurrection, the dead saints in their open tombs rose from the grave and walked to Jerusalem to serve as witnesses (Matthew 27:50-53)
Jesus: The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most documented account of resurrection in human history. It remains the focal point of Christian scripture and also recognized as the first permanent resurrection in the Bible. All other resurrections were temporary; the victims received a renewed life to someday die again. (Mark 16:1-8)
